CYT-500, Y12SR Leader

Yoga has been a “comfort food” for my soul since I first started practicing in the early 2000s. For me, yoga is a safe and rejuvenating place in a world filled with stress and uncertainty.

In 2016, I decided to bring my love for yoga to the next level and completed my 200-hour yoga teaching certification with Well Heart Yoga in Maine. Shortly thereafter I experienced a major life trauma. In response, I started to struggle with substance use. I stopped practicing and teaching yoga. I lost myself.

My recovery was difficult but steady. Yoga and meditation were an integral part of calming my anxiety and learning to deal with life again. In 2022, I completed my Y12SR (Yoga for 12-Step Recovery) certification and in 2023 I completed my 300-hour yoga teaching certification with My Vinyasa Practice online.

I love gentle yoga that includes heart- and hip-opening poses for a counterbalance to working at a computer all day. I believe yoga and meditation help us get in tune with our bodies and minds, help us notice where we are out of balance, and learn to find what we need in our lives. Yoga always helps me find my way back to peace and wellbeing.

I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with my dogs Gilly and Maggie-May, who sometimes join me for yoga.
